Terms and Conditions
1. Scope and acceptance
These Terms and Conditions govern use of our website, documentation, downloadable software, customer support, and related services, including WP Equation Web Role Manager Lite/Free and WP Equation Web Role Manager Pro. By purchasing, downloading, installing, activating, or using a paid product, you agree to these Terms together with the purchase terms, license terms, refund terms, and Freemius checkout terms presented to you.
2. Seller and product identity
WP Equation Web Role Manager is a software product offered under the Equation Web Technologies brand. Before publication, the seller's exact legal business name, legal form, postal address, and contact details must be inserted in Section 21.
3. Free/Lite and Pro versions
A Lite or Free version may be distributed through our own website, WordPress.org, or another approved channel. The Lite version contains only the features expressly included in that package. The Pro version is a separate paid distribution that contains the premium functionality made available to paying customers.
A Lite interface may display disabled or informational references to Pro-only functionality and may link to our website or Freemius checkout. The presence of such interface elements does not create an entitlement to Pro functionality.
4. Purchases through Freemius
WP Equation Web Role Manager Pro is sold through Freemius. Freemius provides the checkout and may act as merchant of record for the transaction, including payment processing, VAT/sales-tax handling, recurring billing, fraud and chargeback management, software licensing, premium download delivery, and customer-portal functions. Additional terms displayed by Freemius during checkout apply to the transaction.

5. Pro pricing and activation limits
Our current annual Pro pricing model is:
| Plan | Price | Production-site limit | Billing period |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single Site | €18.99 | 1 site | 1 year |
| 10 Sites | €129.99 | 10 sites | 1 year |
| 25 Sites | €249.99 | 25 sites | 1 year |
All three pricing options provide the same Pro feature set unless the product page states otherwise. The difference is the maximum number of production WordPress websites that may use the official license activation entitlement during the active license period. Freemius licensing rules, including treatment of local or staging environments, may apply.
6. Annual subscription, renewals and cancellation
Paid plans are sold on an annual basis. Freemius subscriptions normally renew automatically unless the customer cancels before renewal. Cancellation prevents future renewal charges but does not normally terminate the already-paid license period. Renewal pricing, applicable taxes, discounts, and billing details are those shown at checkout and in the customer's Freemius account or portal.
7. Lifetime use after license expiration
Our commercial model is that a customer may continue using the Pro version already obtained and installed after the paid annual license period ends, provided the software remains technically compatible with the customer's environment and subject to the applicable software license.
If the annual license is not renewed, the customer is not entitled to future Pro updates, upgrades, newly released versions, premium downloads, or support after the active entitlement ends. License activation, reactivation, transfer to a different website, or access to hosted licensing services after expiration may be subject to Freemius functionality and the status of the license.
We do not guarantee that an old Pro version will remain compatible indefinitely with future WordPress, PHP, browser, server, theme, or third-party-plugin versions.
8. Updates, upgrades and support
During an active annual license, customers are entitled to the updates, upgrades, and support included in their plan. Updates may include bug fixes, security improvements, compatibility changes, performance improvements, and new or revised functionality. We do not guarantee compatibility with every third-party plugin, theme, hosting environment, server configuration, or future software release.
9. Multi-site licenses and client websites
Customers holding 10-site or 25-site licenses may use their activation entitlement across their own websites and/or client websites as part of legitimate website development, administration, or maintenance services, provided the total number of production activations does not exceed the purchased limit.
A multi-site purchase does not authorize the customer to represent themselves as the vendor of our official licenses, to resell individual Freemius activation entitlements as independent licenses, or to transfer our customer-account credentials, support entitlement, or update entitlement to third parties except where expressly permitted by us or required by applicable open-source licensing rights.
10. License activation and transfer between sites
The Pro plugin may use the Freemius WordPress SDK for activation and license management. A customer may use the same multi-site license key on multiple eligible WordPress installations up to the purchased site limit. Where supported, deactivating a license on one website may release an activation so that it can be used on another eligible website.
11. Permitted use
- Use the software on the number of production websites permitted by the purchased activation entitlement.
- Use a 10-site or 25-site license on client websites as part of legitimate web-development, administration, or maintenance services, within the activation limit.
- Make reasonable backup copies for legitimate use and disaster recovery.
- Modify or redistribute open-source-covered code to the extent those rights are granted by the applicable open-source license.
12. Prohibited use and service restrictions
- Do not use the official Freemius activation entitlement on more production websites than your purchased plan allows.
- Do not sell, rent, lease, sublicense, or transfer Freemius license keys, customer-account credentials, official update entitlements, support entitlements, or restricted download links as standalone commercial licenses without our written authorization.
- Do not publicly disclose private license keys, account credentials, or restricted download links.
- Do not access, interfere with, or abuse our hosted systems, Freemius-powered services, licensing systems, authentication, update-delivery mechanisms, or customer-account functions in an unauthorized, fraudulent, or security-compromising manner.
- Do not use our website, support channels, or hosted services for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or malicious activity.
- Nothing in this Section restricts a right that cannot lawfully be restricted under the GNU General Public License or another applicable open-source license.
13. Open-source licensing
WP Equation Web Role Manager and/or components it uses may be subject to the GNU General Public License (GPL) or other open-source licenses. Those licenses govern the rights they directly grant in the software code, including any applicable rights to use, modify, and redistribute covered code. Nothing in these Terms removes rights granted directly by an applicable open-source license.
Separate commercial terms may govern services and entitlements that are not the software code itself, including official license activations, premium download access, automatic updates, upgrade eligibility, account access, and technical support, to the extent permitted by law.
14. Intellectual property and branding
Except for open-source components and third-party materials, our website content, product names, branding, documentation, graphics, marketing materials, and other original materials are owned by or licensed to us and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. No trademark or branding rights are granted merely because you purchase or receive the software.
15. Customer responsibilities
- Maintain appropriate backups before installing or updating the plugin.
- Test significant permission or role changes in a safe environment where reasonably possible.
- Secure administrator accounts, license keys, customer-account credentials, and WordPress installations.
- Ensure that your site satisfies the published technical requirements.
- Review role and capability changes carefully, because incorrect permission settings can affect access to a WordPress site.
16. Availability and third-party dependencies
We aim to keep our website, downloads, documentation, support channels, and product services available, but uninterrupted availability is not guaranteed. Freemius, hosting providers, payment providers, DNS/CDN services, WordPress, PHP, themes, plugins, and other third-party systems may affect availability or compatibility.
17. Refunds
Refunds are governed by the Refund Policy published on our website and by the terms displayed through Freemius at checkout. Where mandatory consumer rights apply, those rights take precedence over conflicting contractual terms. The published Refund Policy should always match the refund configuration used in the Freemius Developer Dashboard.
18. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the website and software are provided without guarantees beyond those expressly stated and any mandatory statutory rights. We do not warrant that the software will be error-free, uninterrupted, permanently compatible with future software versions, or compatible with every third-party product or environment.
19. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, including loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity arising from use of or inability to use the website or software. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by mandatory law.
20. Privacy, governing law and changes
Our Privacy Policy explains how personal data is handled in connection with the website, support, products, and Freemius-powered commerce and licensing functions.
These Terms should be interpreted according to the law applicable to the seller and the customer relationship, subject to mandatory consumer-protection, jurisdiction, and conflict-of-laws rules. A German-qualified lawyer should review any specific governing-law or court clause before publication.
We may update these Terms for future website use and future purchases when our products, services, pricing, technology, or legal obligations change. Changes will not retroactively remove rights already acquired where applicable law does not permit that.
